Introduction

In this article, you will learn how to use individual placeholders (Custom Place Holders) for your LinkedIn campaign messages. These placeholders enable you to send personalized messages through an imported target group.

Preparation

First, you need an Excel spreadsheet with the LinkedIn profiles of your target group. This spreadsheet should contain columns for the custom placeholders. The content of these columns is up to you. You can name and fill them with any desired information.

Example Excel Spreadsheet

An example could be an Excel spreadsheet containing profile exports of your employees from LinkedIn. At the end of the table, you add another column that you can name as a custom placeholder. This column can contain any text you want to use later in your messages.

Importing the Target Group

To import the target group, open the corresponding Excel file and give it a name and description. Then, define the placeholders by adding and naming them. The column in your Excel spreadsheet is then assigned to the corresponding placeholder.

Setup in the LinkedIn Tool

After importing the target group, you can use it in your LinkedIn tool. You create a function with text and add the imported target group. Then you have the option to use the custom placeholder in your texts.

Testing Placeholders

To ensure the placeholders are recognized correctly, you can preview your message. Placeholders will be displayed in orange and italic in the preview. If a placeholder is not recognized, the display will change. This allows you to quickly identify whether the placeholder was recognized or not.

Examples of Use

The described steps apply to all functions where you can insert messages, including connecting. You can insert an unlimited number of placeholders and columns and use them in your texts.
