The following overview should show you the possible LinkedIn restrictions

Preface:

All restrictions are harmless! LinkedIn only checks your activities itself with an automatic algorithm. Even multiple violations are harmless. You will always be unblocked again.

--Harmless--

  • Weekly limit
    • Duration: Until Monday
    • Reason: Max. Number of networks per week reached
  • Captcha
    • Duration: Until you solve it
    • Reason: Duplicate logins or logins from different sources
  • Confirm T&Cs
    • Duration: One click
    • Reason: Unusual activity or abrupt changes to behavior patterns like multiple simultaneous logins (PC+mobile or employee*), too fast increase in number or even bad text, bad profile, free LinkedIn membership
  • Time limited no access to your profile
    • Duration: 12h to 2 days
    • Reason: Unusual activities or abrupt changes in behaviour patterns like multiple simultaneous logins (PC+cell phone or employee), too fast increase in number or also bad text, bad profile, free LinkedIn membership.
    • Also, if many contacts click ignore on your networking request, e.g. if you have many pending requests (older than 5 days and more than 200)

--Mild--

  • You have to confirm your ID
    • Duration: Until you upload your ID
    • Reason: You are using a fake account or have many networking rejections
  • Invisible
    • You have full access to your LinkedIn account, but you have been made invisible by LinkedIn. You realize that no one answers your requests and messages anymore. Duration: 1-2 weeks
    • Reason: Many networking rejections

--Serious--

LinkedIn will transfer your money back to your account and you will no longer have access to your account.

Reason: You were frequently flagged as a scammer/spammer or used the following themes.

Even in serious case, you can ask for "mercy" via a ticket at LinkedIn Support. Since only a robot works there itself, you will be unlocked relatively quickly. Duration 5-7 days.
